There’s another sector that’s been hit by the government shutdown – and one you probably haven’t seen in the news. For several years, the language industry has been booming, due in large part to an uptick in federal contracts for defense and intelligence agencies after 9/11. A Common Sense advisory study found that the federal government spent $4.5 billion on outsourced language services from 1990 to 2009. So how has the shutdown affected the industry?
