Yowei Shaw is a senior reporter/producer with NPR’s Invisibilia. Her work has been featured on This American Life, NPR, Studio 360, The World, and she’s also performed with Pop Up MagazineShe’s received a Third Coast Award and a National Edward R. Murrow Award, and was a USA Knight Fellow and recipient of the Leeway Transformation Award.

Yowei got her start in radio by teaching youth radio (when she was a young person, with no professional radio experience). She’s a proud member of the Association of Independents in Radio and is ever grateful for getting to be an AIR New Voice. She no longer has a standing desk, after hearing from her doctor that standing desks don’t make all that much difference. It’s all in how you break.

Her first name is pronounced [YO-way]. Like NO way with a Y.
