Yowei Shaw is senior reporter/producer with NPR’s Invisibilia, where she reports, produces, edits, and sound designs stories. Her work has been featured on This American LifeStudio 360, The World, and Pop Up Magazine, and over the years, she’s been honored with a Third Coast Documentary AwardNational Edward R. Murrow Award, United States Artists fellowship, and Leeway Transformation Award.

Yowei got her start in audio by teaching youth radio (when she was a young person, with no professional radio experience). She’s a proud member of the Association of Independents in Radio and is ever grateful for getting to be an AIR New Voice. She no longer has a standing desk, after hearing from her doctor that standing desks don’t make all that much difference. It’s all in how you break.

Her first name is pronounced [YO-way]. Like NO way with a Y.
